Davante Adams would be the ultimate signing for the New England Patriots

Imagine for one second Mac Jones throwing the ball to the talent known as Davante Adams.

Okay, now snap out of that fantasy because the 29-year-old wide receiver has a big pay day coming and it would be an absolute shock if Bill Belichick goes after Adams with a big contract.

First, the team’s current cap position would limit their pursuit even if they had interest.  Secondly, Belichick will probably focus his attention on the defensive side of the ball and hope for a cheaper No. 1 wide receiver option in free agency, the draft or if one becomes available in the draft.

But it’s fun to dream about what Adams could do in a New England Patriots’ uniform.  Coming off a season with 123 receptions for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns, the physical wide receiver would be the ultimate playmaker for Mac Jones.

Not only would he give the Patriots that outside weapon they have been searching for, but his presence should also make Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers and the tight end duo of Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith more effective.

In summary, the New England Patriots would be crazy not to target Davante Adams.  It is just a matter of how realistic it may be.  As last offseason proved, you can never underestimate Mr. Belichick.  If this signing happened, it would sent Patriots fans over the moon.
