Why the New England Patriots should target Isaiah McKenzie

New England Patriots cornerback Myles Bryant would probably appreciate the team signing pending Buffalo Bills wide receiver free agent Isaiah McKenzie.

Bryant and the Patriots secondary got absolutely torched by McKenzie in the game in Foxborough and again in the Wild Card matchup.  The team had absolutely no answer for the 5-foot-8 speedy receiver, which probably means they will go out and sign him.

Bill Belichick has certainly given him some praise.

Just 26 years old, McKenzie is the type of wide receiver who could flourish with the Patriots, even if offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels lands the head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Not only is he an explosive player who can also lineup in the backfield, he is a possession type receiver as he proved in the Week 16 matchup with 173 receiving yards in the Bills’ 33-21 victory at Gillette Stadium.

In all, his versatility and ability to return kicks should more than intrigue Belichick and the Patriots.  There will be some bigger names out there, but a cheaper option like McKenzie could pay dividends if they use him in the right way.  Perhaps he could flourish in the slot position as he is a similar size to that of both Troy Brown and Wes Welker.

It is hard to see the Bills leading him get away, but Mr. Belichick would love to get him out of Buffalo and into a Patriots’ uniform.
