New England Patriots rumors: 3 49ers to target in 2022 NFL free agency

The San Francisco 49ers got far in the playoffs now, didn’t they?  Behind former New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel and them boys took the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams to the brink. Was it just a run of luck or are they a contender in 2022?

Depending on what happens at the quarterback position, the 49ers may just be that team.  With young Trey Lance waiting in the wings, San Francisco will have some big decisions to make this offseason.  With a boatload of aging veterans, head coach Kyle Shanahan will have the challenge of making this 49ers squad even more lethal.

Whether Tom Brady comes out of retirement to play in the Bay or not, the 49ers success in 2021 was predicated on defense.  Led by Nick Bosa, San Francisco defense got them to the NFC Championship Game taking out NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers along the way.

Patriots fans take notice, because you know Bill Belichick has noted a few players on that defense he would love to have in New England, especially a Patriots’ defense looking to get younger and faster this offseason.

When it comes to the 49ers pending free agents, that is where the focus lies.  Here are 3 players Belichick and the New England Patriots should absolutely target in 2022 NFL free agency.
