Why the New England Patriots should target linebacker Jordan Evans

Every New England Patriots fan knows Bill Belichick likes to sign bargain basement depth pieces that no one has ever heard of except for the team that player plays for.

With most of their top talent locked up or on rookie deals, the Cincinnati Bengals are in good shape coming off a Super Bowl loss.  But one of their pending free agents who could add depth at the linebacker position and on special teams is Jordan Evans.

A 2017 sixth-round pick of the Bengals, Evans has earned a role as a core special teams player who has also earned reps on defense.  He landed on injured reserve in 2021, but the year prior he tallied 11 combined tackles with 2.0 sacks and 2 an interception, so he does have some playmaking skills.

Though he may be unfamiliar to the casual football fan, he is exactly the kind of player Belichick would target.  With the Patriots need at the linebacker position, Jordan Evans could be one of those underrated and undervalued signings that pay off big for Belichick.

Obviously, not the flashiest name, but in building a complete roster and adding complimentary players at the right spots, the Patriots targeting this Bengals linebacker would not be a surprise at all.
