The New England Patriots are awfully quiet.  Besides losing their top cornerback in J.C. Jackson and trading away one of their best offensive linemen in Shaq Mason, there has been a missing person search out for Bill Belichick so far this season.

Is it self-sabotage or is the genius head coach up to something big in the coming weeks?

If he is, the one person who appears to be in the way is Bill Belichick the general manager.  What is the GM in Belichick doing in free agency to help his team get better?  Why isn’t he spending to replace the players the Patriots loss in free agency?  What happened to that younger, faster, stronger approach?

Dude, you must spend some money and take some risks to make that happen!

Has Bill Belichick, New England Patriots already punted on the 2022 NFL season?

As a fan who has watched the Pat Patriot helmet laughingstock New England Patriots struggle to get to two wins season after season, there are no complaints as to the glory days Belichick has brought to the franchise over the last 20 years…or was that more Tom Brady?  To rephrase that, was Belichick’s success based on the 45-year-old fountain of youth who now brings that same glory to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise with their own laughingstock of the league history.

When it comes to attracting players in free agency, Belichick is struggling to get players to choose New England over other teams because there is no Tom Brady.

If Patriots fans and NFL executives around the league are scratching their heads over what Belichick is doing or even thinking, you must believe players inside and outside of the organization don’t see the same thing.  No, Belichick hasn’t changed and that’s the problem.

The arrogance is what makes the Hoodie both admired and frustrating, but that same arrogance without having a stabilizer like Brady has this franchise on the brink of returning to the pre-glory days if he doesn’t look at what’s going on around him.

Never mind the AFC East where the Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL by signing Von Miller to a mammoth contract, the rest of the AFC is in an arms race for control of a conference the Patriots were once king.  Josh McDaniels has already done things with the Las Vegas Raiders that Patriots fans have dreamed of here.  Not only did they sign Chandler Jones, but the former Patriots also offensive coordinator went out and got Davante Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers.

Then there are the Cleveland Browns, a team that not only went out and got Amari Cooper, but they also pulled off a trade for Deshaun Watson.  Great NFL stuff all around, yet the New England Patriots remain quiet.

With a second-year quarterback in Mac Jones, holes all along the offensive line, a linebacker group now lead by Ja’Whaun Bentley and a need for more offensive firepower, if this is the Bill Belichick we have all come to know and love (and hate), the Patriots will have their moment in the NFL spotlight.

There are plenty of notable free agents out there and more trades no one will see coming.  This fan will bet on Belichick just sitting back and playing possum.

Although arrogant, he is too competitive of a coach to stand pat.  In other words, don’t count the New England Patriots out just yet.

In Bill We (still) Trust.
