3 bargain free agents the New England Patriots, Belichick must sign now
New England Patriots should take a shot at wide receiver Will Fuller
Just for the sake of not setting up disappointment amongst New England Patriots fans with naming either Odell Beckham Jr. or Julio Jones here, let’s go with a free agent wide receiver with talent who is looking for an opportunity to re-establish his career.
As a player one season removed from a PED suspension, the 28-year-old Will Fuller could be the team’s answer as a No. 1 receiver in 2022 if he stays healthy and benefit from that Belichick touch that has revived the careers of players like Akiem Hicks, Aqib Talib and Randy Moss.
That would be the hope anyway as Fuller’s health has also been a reason he has seen limited time on the field over the last two seasons. But if he gets his health and head together, he could return to the player he was in 2020 when he hauled in 53 passes for 879 yards and 8 touchdowns with the Houston Texans.
With his speed on the outside, Fuller would be an affordable option on a prove-it type deal. He wouldn’t be as splashy as Beckham Jr. or Jones, but in a way Fuller could be the receiver with the chance of making more of an impact in the New England Patriots offense.
Add him with Kendrick Bourne, Hunter Henry, Jakobi Meyers and a rejuvenated Jonnu Smith and suddenly Mac Jones would have himself some weapons to work with.
Will Fuller to the Patriots? Belichick, give it a shot!
