Boston Red Sox: This Bobby Dalbec 2022 bold prediction will pump fans up
While it is safe to predict the Boston Red Sox offense will be a force in 2022 with the addition of Trevor Story in the middle of a lineup that includes Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez, one MLB.com beat writer has Bobby Dalbec breaking out in a major way.
Oh, and that is a major way as Ian Browne not only has the Red Sox young first baseman finding consistency at the plate but is predicting Dalbec will be amongst the home run leaders not only on the team, but all of baseball.
In MLB’s article highlighting one bold prediction for each team entering Opening Day, Browne really goes out there on a limb by predicting Dalbec will hit 35-40 home runs!
When it comes to the Boston Red Sox slugger, Browne writes:
"“That would make him the slugging monster that many people felt he would be a year ago. In his rookie year, Dalbec endured his lumps and still went deep 25 times. Now he knows the rhythms and the adjustments it takes to succeed at the highest level. If Dalbec does consistent damage in the seventh spot in the batting order, the Red Sox are going to be a team no pitching staff will want to face.”"
Boston Red Sox slugger Bobby Dalbec has the power, now watch him shine
With Enrique Hernandez, Alex Verdugo and Christian Vazquez also flexing their muscles in that Red Sox lineup, it is hard to disagree with Browne that the offense will terrorize opposing pitching. Add Dalbec to the mix and the Red Sox will solve their first base issue, at least offensively. That would be a welcome surprise to the 2022 MLB season for sure.

As far as the prediction goes, based on Dalbec’s 2020 production and the flashes of power he displayed during his official rookie season in 2021, it is a possibility as he still flexed 25 homers in a season in which he went through some major slumps, which young players tend to go through in their sophomore season.
Now, entering his third season, Dalbec is focused on improving his mechanics to be the team’s long-term answer at first base or at least their future DH with Martinez hitting free agency following the season.
"“I think I was more worried about my mechanics last year than being on time and seeing the ball,” Dalbec said back in March, via NBC Sports. “That’s just how it goes. When you’re late, you’re not going to have a good swing. I was trying to have a good swing while being late and that’s just not something that’s easy to do. Being early is just the way to go for me.”"
If Bobby Dalbec comes even close to Browne’s prediction, it will be a fun year for the Boston Red Sox offense and will certainly help get over the loss of Kyle Schwarber in free agency. Will he make that leap and have a breakout season?
Stay tuned Boston Red Sox fans!
