The New England Patriots are beginning on-field preparations for the 2022 NFL season. Despite that, the offseason still isn’t over, and teams are continuing to make some under-the-radar moves that could end up being huge once football is actually being played.

NFL free agency is over for the most part, but there are still some good players that are searching for new homes. If New England wanted to, they could provide one of these guys a home, and who knows, maybe they could play a huge role on the team this season. Let’s take a look at three remaining free agents that the Patriots should look into signing before the offseason concludes.

New England Patriots free agent target No. 3: Will Fuller V

At this point, wide receiver is really more of a want than a need. New England has already brought in Devante Parker through a trade with the Miami Dolphins, and drafted Tyquan Thornton in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. But there are still a lot of question marks in the wide receiver room, and taking a flier on a guy like Will Fuller V could end up being a great move.

Fuller has been fantastic when he’s been on the field throughout his six-year career; the problem is he has yet to play a full season in his six year career. Whether it be a laundry list of injuries or a suspension for PEDs, Fuller is almost a sure bet to miss games at some point during the season.

The thing is the Pats could use a wide receiver like Fuller. He’s a threat at all three levels of the field, and he has great breakaway speed. He’s not a sure bet to be on the field, but neither is Parker. Having both on the roster could act as sort of an insurance policy in the event one of them were to miss time.

Bringing Parker in on a low cost deal wouldn’t really hurt the team. If he doesn’t pan out, cut him, but if he’s going to play, he’s a better option than a guy like Nelson Agholor, who struggled mightily in his first season with the team. Expectations wouldn’t be high, but he could be a huge help to this team.
