Draymond Green just won’t stop talking.  The player Boston Celtics fans loved to antagonize during the 2021-22 NBA Finals has applauded the team’s recent trade for Malcolm Brogdon.

During his infamous podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” the outspoken Golden State Warriors big man lauded the deal that sent Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Juwan Morgan, Malik Fitts, Nik Stauskas and a 2023 first-round draft pick to the Indiana Pacers for Brogdon.

As Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens had earned a high mark for the trade, Green strongly agrees stating that the team he just battled in the NBA Finals added the one thing they were missing in the championship round and that is both depth and versatility at the point guard position.

"“The reason that trade catches my eyes is because I think it adds to something that Boston was missing,” Green said on his podcast, as transcribed by NBC Sports Boston.  “Which is number one, their depth.  Number two is versatility and options at the point guard position.  I don’t think they had many options at the point guard position in this past playoff run that your Warriors just won.  I think that give them that.”"

Draymond Green impressed by Boston Celtics acquisition of Malcolm Brogdon

Yeah, rub it in Draymond.  But it’s hard to disagree with the Warriors star here because the Celtics really couldn’t match the backcourt scoring of Golden State.  They also couldn’t stop turning the ball over which only exposed their lack of a true point guard.  That is no shade to Marcus Smart, but there were too many times where Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown went into iso mode when the team really needed a bucket.

Beyond that, they lacked depth and production at the position.  Once Smart went to the bench, Payton Pritchard came in and looked overwhelmed at times.  The addition of Brogdon should change that.  Not only is he a scorer, but he is also a good playmaker.  He should open things for both Tatum and Brown when he is on the court because defenders have to respect his offense as well.

In all, the move showed Green the Boston Celtics aren’t satisfied with just making the Finals, they are in it to win it and he respects that.

"“I think that was an absolutely incredible move by Boston,” Green continued.  “I think that’s one that lets you know, ‘Hey, we’re not satisfied with losing in the NBA Finals.’ And arguably, depending on what happens, could be the best trade.  If Boston goes on to win the championship, you look back at this summer, you’re like, “Wow, that was the trade of the summer.”"

In averaging 19.1 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 36 games last season, it is hard not to be excited about what Brogdon brings to the table when healthy.  Not only is he another veteran presence, but he also knows how to play the game and rises to the occasion when the game is on the line.

To give credit to Draymond Green, he has endorsed the Celtics several times prior to the NBA Finals and even when the Warriors won Game 6 in Boston, he told both Tatum and Grant Williams that he knows they will be back.  As much as he annoys Celtics fans, you must like the fact that he keeps it real as to what he sees in the Celtics.

In fact, it kind of sounds like he is a fan.
