Boston Celtics ship Jaylen Brown to Sacramento for De’Aaron Fox

There were rumblings about this possible blockbuster last season, so why not revisit a deal between the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings centered around a Jaylen Brown swap for De’Aaron Fox.

There would have to be other players involved, but that is Brad Stevens thing to figure out.  Here, we’ll just talk about the possibility and the ramifications of such a deal.

With the Celtics just adding Malcolm Brogdon, the need for a point guard has diminished a bit, but Fox is a superstar point guard on the rise, so if Brown forces his way out of Boston, the Celtics could have an opportunity to bring a young star back in return.

As one of the most explosive point guards in the NBA, averaging 23.2 points per game, Fox would give the Celtics backcourt something like what they had in Kyrie Irving when health and his head was on straight.

While the team would get a little smaller depending on what else is in the return package, a true point guard like Fox allows for Marcus Smart and Brogdon to play more of their natural two guard position with either of the two serving as the backup point guard.

As far as Jaylen Brown, he would have the opportunity to be the star of the Sacramento Kings in that state he played his college basketball.  He wouldn’t be going to a contender, but if he helps lead the Kings into a competitive team in the West, he increases his value even more around the league, especially with a change at a max deal.

Oh, and imagine the battles with Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors if he was to play in the same division.

Again, depending on the other moving pieces, such a deal could decrease the Celtics championship chances a little bit.  It would put more pressure on Jayson Tatum to be a leader, which could actually be a good thing for the growth of him as a superstar.
