Boston Celtics send Jaylen Brown to the Memphis Grizzlies for Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane

If Jaylen Brown wants a team of his own, this trade with the Memphis Grizzlies wouldn’t solve that.

But, if he simply wants out of Boston and wants to go to another team in contention for a title, teaming up with Ja Morant could be appealing and the return could be intriguing to the Boston Celtics as well.

Brown in a package to the Grizzlies for Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane would help both teams.  It gives Memphis another All-Star player to play alongside Morant, and it gives the Celtics a rising star in Jackson Jr., along with sharpshooter in Bane, who they drafted.

Yes, the Celtics would be getting a lot of youth in return, but those two players do have playoff experience so there is value there.  The upside of those two players could be a reason Memphis says no, but Brown and perhaps Marcus Smart or even Robert Williams in return would make the Grizzlies a tough out in the Western Conference.

As for the Celtics, they get a little younger and would add a little more scoring between the two of those players.

Again, this is simply a theoretical trade if Jaylen Brown forces a trade out of Boston. Both teams are in a good position coming of the 2021-22 NBA season, but if there is an opportunity for a deal to put either team over the top other than adding a Kevin Durant, then contending teams explore all options.

In this scenario, both teams could get a little better in swapping young talent with championship aspirations in their eyes.
