Boston Celtics rumors: 4 Jaylen Brown blockbuster trades to explore
Boston Celtics send Jaylen Brown to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant
Speaking of Kevin Durant, the Boston Celtics may have the best young player in Jaylen Brown who could be used in a deal to bring the 34-year-old Durant to the Green in any deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
I do bring up age here because any hesitance of a deal involving Brown for Durant centers around how many years KD has as a top player in the NBA. Currently, he does have three years left on his deal which would give the Celtics or any team at least a few seasons of his services.
As long as the Celtics don’t have to gut their team in order to bring in Durant, he is an obvious upgrade over Brown even at this stage of his career and there is no under-appreciation there Jaylen, but it is what it is.
The question here is whether it is worth trading a young star for a player who would deliver a championship or two now? To rephrase that, is it worth bringing in Kevin Durant to play alongside Jayson Tatum if it guarantees a title now?

With the Boston Celtics coming within two games of winning a title with the tandem of Tatum and Brown, it would be worth giving them another shot at it with a better roster around them. That is what Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens appears to be doing with the additions of Brogdon and Gallinari.
But again, if Jaylen Brown has no plans to extend his future in Boston, a good basketball executive will recognize that and put the team before the star. Durant makes a lot of sense in Boston because of his relationship with Celtics head coach Ime Udoka and veteran big man Al Horford.
He also has a lot of admiration for Tatum as the two played well off each other as teammates for USA Basketball. So, if Brown is creating some rumblings of his unhappiness, perhaps his value can land the team one of the best players on the planet, even if it is just for a couple seasons.
