Boston College Eagles: 3 standouts in gritty victory over Maine
Boston College Eagles: Zen of Zay
The future continues to look bright for wide receiver Zay Flowers. And it’s a lovely thing to watch him light up the night in the present for the Boston College Eagles.
Flowers again found the end zone, this time on a 51-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter to start the scoring for the Eagles.
Seven more times Jurkovec and Flowers hooked up as Flowers finished with eight receptions for 89 yards.
This outstanding effort now gives Flowers 22 receptions for 285 and three touchdowns so far in 2022. And while he seemingly continues to prep for the next stage of his career, Boston College is prepping for his eventual replacement.

That honor could fall to Jaden Williams. The sophomore had a long reception of his own, going for 53 yards. Williams finished with three catches for 60 yards, also scoring a touchdown on a nine-yard run that put Boston College up 21-10 in the second quarter.
Boston College was also able to get tight end George Takacs involved in the offense. Takacs had seven receptions for 66 yards.
As an offensive line continues to — fingers crossed — improve, this will get the running game going. And, in turn, more opportunities for these three receivers and also longer, sustained drives.
Meaning a well-tested defense can hopefully find more rest in their future.
