Boston College Eagles: 3 bright spots through first four games
Boston College Eagles: A rising star
A few seasons back, Boston College was churning out future NFL stars on defense in Harold Landry and Zach Allen, among others.
While it’s still early in his sophomore season, Donovan Ezeiruaku has the makings of joining that club.
Ezeiruaku pounced from the get-go in 2022, collecting eight tackles against Rutgers. While he hasn’t been as prolific in the stat column since, Ezeiruaku is still making an impact.
Fifth on the team in tackles with 21, Ezeiruaku tops the list in other categories. The two other forced fumbles belong to him and he’s collected two of the team’s eight sacks. Ezeiruaku also leads the team with 4.5 tackles-for-loss.
His play has somewhat helped offset the loss of Shitta Sillah, who is out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Getting to the magical eight-win mark in 2022 is going to be a difficult task for Boston College. Building around these three players is a start. Improved play from Jurkovec would, too, especially as the young offensive line (and players around them) continue to improve. And improve they must, if the Eagles want to end up on the positive side of the win-loss column. That begins Saturday against Louisville.
