The Boston Bruins have had quite the start to their 2022-2023 regular season. They started off with three straight wins over the Washington Capitals, Arizona Coyotes, and Florida Panthers. This all comes after a tumultuous off-season, to say the least.

The Bruins fired former head coach Bruce Cassidy, and hired new head coach Jim Montgomery. There’s the re-signings of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Don’t forget about the ongoing battles with David Pastrnak and a new long term contract!

With all of this going on, there is one question that Bruins fans have the right to ask at this point. Is this the last run at the cup for the Boston Bruins? Let’s dive further into it!

The Boston Bruins could be saying goodbye to Patrice Bergeron after this season

Let’s face it Bruins fans, this could very well be the curtain call for Patrice Bergeron.

We didn’t even know if Bergeron was going to return after last season. And a lot of us felt like that team was the last chance for a Stanley Cup run!

You remember last season, ending in seven games in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals to the Carolina Hurricanes. The beloved Bruins center sounded like a man that was headed for retirement. Then after the Cassidy firing, Bergeron suddenly signs a one year contract to try to win one more time.

Bergeron isn’t getting any younger. He’s 37 years old and has played through a countless amount of injuries. You name it and the center has probably been through it!

Don’t be surprised if after this season, the longtime captain decides to call it a career!

The Boston Bruins could have issues with Brad Marchand

Brad Marchand is out for the first part of the season with a hip injury. But this has to make Bruins fans think about the long-term health of the Bruins left winger.

Marchand is 34 years old and turns 35 in May. He has two more seasons on his current contract before he can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024-2025 season.

Can Marchand stay healthy? Will he request a trade from the Boston Bruins if they have a few bad seasons? Those questions remain to be seen. But these are realities that Don Sweeney and the Bruins management team will have to consider carefully.

The Boston Bruins are in a LOADED Eastern Conference

The Bruins have a tough Eastern conference to try to get past, in order to have a chance to win a cup.

They have to deal with the Lightning, who’ve won the cup several times. The Rangers, who look like they’re back to prominence in the East. There’s the Panthers that have loaded up and are very good. Then there’s the Maple Leafs, who put up great regular season records. And that’s only a few of the teams to worry about!

The Bruins already are fighting for playoff spots the last few seasons. Now with the Eastern conference becoming even more competitive, how many more chances can we realistically expect the Bruins to contend?

Better enjoy this season Boston Bruins fans. It could be a long while before they are back in contention!
