Boston Bruins Second Star: David Pastrnak

The Boston Bruins second star so far isn’t going to come as a surprise to anyone who has watched this team over the last five years. Once again, David Pastrnak is proving why Don Sweeney is playing with fire by not having already backed up the Brinks truck for him.

Leading the team, and 5th in the league, with 10 points through six games, Pasta is making his eventual contract more expensive by the day. He’s changing the game every time he touches the ice, and it looks like his passing has taken another step this year.

What’s even more impressive is that it doesn’t even feel like he’s hit his scoring stride yet, with only four goals, and is yet to pot one on the power play. We all know that will eventually come.

Once he really gets going, watch out. I’m expecting him to make another run at 50 goals, and possibly challenge for the league lead. With Krejci dishing him the puck was when we saw some of Pastrnak’s most explosive scoring bursts in the past, so hopefully more of the same is to come the rest of this year.
