Patriots vs Jets: Bill Belichick, Mac Jones and boys are onto New York
The New England Patriots are onto New York Jets.
Last weeks Monday night display from top to bottom is a flush, and we’re moving onto a division rival. One that the Patriots have defeated twelve straight times. But the difference is the trajectory of these two teams.
The Jets are red hot and trending upwards while stock in the Patriots has never been lower. You know what that means… buy the dip!
Patriots vs Jets is once again a real AFC East battle
The two will square off in the meadowlands in what has become a must win game for the Patriots. After quarterback musical chairs on Monday night Patriots head coach Bill Belichick confirmed that Mac Jones is the man. On top of that decision the kid has been removed from the injury report and I would expect him to be good.
Last week is a bury the ball type of game, and Mac knows that. The kid has to take care of the football. This team is not good enough to give away field position and possessions and stay in games with teams.
It’s been strange to see because watching his tape at the University of Alabama and last year he had no issues throwing the ball 10 rows deep into the stands. I expect him to get back to his ways and have a solid game.
After a huge step back against the Bears the New England Patriots defense has to be better. The loss of Breece Hall makes stopping the run easier for the defense.
New England Patriots must make Zach Wilson look like…Zach Wilson
Last week the Bears found success running the football all over this defense. The defensive line was not getting much penetration off the edges and were over pursuing Justin Fields. He made them pay big time and embarrassed them on their own field.
Zach Wilson is mobile but not like Fields. Wilson has also shown he is much more likely to toss the ball up for grabs. The Patriots will have to take advantage of this in order to win the field position battle and the turnover battle. These are two things the pats have done for 25 years that seemed to have been lost last week.

Robert Saleh has this very talented Jets defense flying around. Statistically this is a top 10 defense and one that really does not have a weakness. They’re top 10 in every category that matters and play with some serious grit. They’re going to hear about losing twelve straight all week and be chomping at the bit to get after Mac Jones.
It will be on the kid to make it happen against an elite group of cornerbacks.
Rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner will probably be manned up with Devante Parker, and hopefully Parker can make something happen. Thus far nobody has been able to expose the rookie, and I’d expect more of the same on that end.
Across from Sauce will be DJ Reed who has been an elite free agency pick up for the Jets. The man has been a ball hawk all year and I would expect the patriots to avoid him if possible.
The key to this game for me is to establish the run game and for the love of God find a tight end. The two games the Patriots recently won the tight ends were involved from jump street. These two guys are being paid a ton of money to come here and make plays. Let’s use them.
When the Patriots made the playoffs just last year Hunter Henry was arguably the best receiving option on the team. Lets get back to that and get a win streak started. No more controversies, no more media fueled issues, just good old fashioned smash you in the mouth Patriots football.

In a must win game I think Mac bounces back and the Patriots get back to their roots.
New England Patriots win 24-20.
Go Pats.
