The New England Patriots have a crucial in division matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. The first time these teams met at the Meadowlands, the Patriots won a very tight game, by the score of 22-17.

Of course, we all know this game turned around when there was a roughing the passer to negate a pick-six for the Jets late in the second quarter. But nonetheless, the Patriots won the game.

One key to this game for the Patriots will be the play of their offensive line. If their offensive line can hold up against this skilled Jets defensive unit, then we should see some good things come Sunday.

New England Patriots offensive line gets its anchor back vs Jets

David Andrews is back for Sunday’s home matchup against the Jets. This is not something to take lightly if you are a Patriots fan.

Andrews returns after receiving a dirty blindside hit late in the game against the Chicago Bears, on Monday Night football weeks ago. He never even got an apology for the hit!

But that’s beside the point. Andrews is the captain of your offensive line for a reason. He’s been around longer than any of the other Patriots on the offensive line. The man knows the offense and is great in the blocking game. He knows what needs to be done to win.

James Ferentz was a nice replacement for Andrews for the last two weeks. But it’s great to see the former Georgia Bulldog back in his rightful place, in the middle of the Patriots offensive line.

Isaiah Wynn needs a huge game on the o-line for the New England Patriots

There was a time when a lot of people, including myself, thought Isaiah Wynn was going to get traded. Ultimately, he didn’t get traded. So now, Patriots fans have no choice but to hope Wynn can be serviceable for the rest of the season.

Sunday is a great opportunity for Wynn to shut a lot of people up, even me. Wynn has led the league in penalties and continued to stall out drives. But maybe Sunday is a grand opportunity to right the ship. If Wynn can play a pretty clean game, it’ll get some people off his back and help the Patriots with this Jets speedy and smart defense.

The bottom line with the New England Patriots offensive line

Everyone on the o-line needs to step up, plain and simple. Cole Strange has struggled recently. The o-line has had injuries. But now, Sunday looks like the time where they’ll be all back together.

Patriots biggest needs in 2023 NFL Draft. dark. Next

If you want to run the ball efficiently, then the o-line needs to block well.

If we want Mac Jones to finally break out of his sophomore slump, then the o-line needs to give him more than one second to throw. This o-line is talented when everyone is together and knows their assignments. Now at this point, it’s all about the execution.

Give the running backs holes to run through, Mac Jones time to complete passes, and your football team a great chance to win. Simple recipe for success!
