Patriots look to build momentum in Thanksgiving Day clash vs Vikings
What a ride the past few weeks has been as a New England Patriots fan.
We have endured some horrendous offense, but we have been able to enjoy the best defense in the NFL. Yes, the quarterbacks the Patriots have played are subpar but the team has had them all in the gulag.
They were seeing ghosts as someone has said in the past….
Also, a walk-off punt return touchdown. Are we kidding? What an electric moment and one that needs to be a springboard for the rest of the season. The stadium erupted and it really was a defining moment for the team as a whole. It could be the moment this team needed to take the next step.
New England Patriots face a big test vs Minnesota Vikings
This week’s Thanksgiving Day primetime clash against the Minnesota Vikings is a huge moment and opportunity for this team.
It is vital the Patriots come out red hot and show some pulse on the offensive side of the football. The defense is going to do what they do. They will do everything to take away Justin Jefferson and make someone else beat them… a Belichick staple when facing a superstar.
Also it cannot be understated how huge it is to get primetime Kirk Cousins who seems to choke in the biggest moments when the lights shine brightest.
Mac Jones had his best game this week throwing his trademarked Mac muffins for almost 250 yards and making zero mistakes.
Yes, the offense took no risks and really simplified the game but he was very under control and did all he could. It was 30 degrees with 35 mph wind gusts and Mac was fine. Moving forward though this offense has to open up the playbook.
The one thing keeping this offense from really reaching its potential is how horrible the offensive line has been.
Mac has no time and is constantly being harassed by opposing defenders. Everyone is quick to blame Mac for these issues, but when the opposing team can break through the offensive line without blitzing and drop 8… it is nearly impossible to find an open receiver. The offensive line should have their best game as the Vikings pass rush is abysmal at best.
Patricia needs to lean heavy on the run game and play action pass and how about extend the field. There needs to be a downfield threat. The team went and got Devante Parker and drafted Tyquan Thornton for a reason. It was not to throw bubble screens it was to throw the ball down the field and have them go get it. This is a great opportunity to do that, so lets see what Matt can do. I personally have no confidence in him as he seems to be scared as a play caller.
Patriots vs Vikings will come down to the Pats defense
The Vikings offensive line is both banged up and even when healthy they were far below average. The defensive line should be able to break through and cause some serious disruption in the back field.
Matthew Judon the sack leader in the entire NFL should be slotted to have a massive game. I expect the Vikings to lean heavily on the quick pass game and Dalvin Cook. The Patriots’ defense will be prepared per usual.

The one thing that cannot be understated is the gigantic coaching gap between these teams. The New England Patriots will always have an advantage when it comes to coaching match ups, but this week Bill is going against a former player he drafted over a decade ago. Bill will have his boys ready I cannot imagine after the way the Vikings lost Sunday that O’Connell could possibly feel confident in his gameplay this week.
With all of that being said… as a Patriots homer and someone who thinks this is a must win. I think the Patriots come out firing…finally. I think the boys walk out of the dome and feast on the Vikings defense. I see the Patriots winning 27-6. The boys will be going into another Thursday game against Buffalo with some momentum.
