The New England Patriots are coming off an important 27-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals last night. With the win, the Patriots currently have the seven seed in the AFC playoff picture.

It’s been the defense leading the way for the Pats this season. A guy like Matthew Judon is getting Defensive Player of the Year recognition while rookies like Jack Jones and Marcus Jones are making significant contributions. But one guy that nobody is talking about is linebacker Josh Uche.

The third year linebacker out of Michigan had one of his best games as a Patriot last night, finishing the night with three sacks on Cardinal quarterback Colt McCoy. It’s easy to see that with Uche’s production this season, the New England Patriots have a star that’s growing in front of our very eyes!

Josh Uche gives the New England Patriots another elite pass rusher

Everyone has been talking about the dominance of Matthew Judon this year, rightfully so. But Josh Uche is having a third year jump like only fans dream of for their favorite teams.

Judon even advocated for Uche after the game last night. That’s when you know that you’ve arrived. Having your teammate, who some analysts have as Defensive Player of the Year, talk highly of you after a game? That really shows something.

This also is a great thing for the Patriots as a whole defense. Opposing offenses can continue to strategize in neutralizing Judon. But then they’ll have to deal with the consequences of leaving Uche room to work. Or maybe Uche can now open up things more for Judon, because NFL offensive coordinators now have to pay attention to Uche! Definitely fun to think about if you’re a Patriots fan.

The New England Patriots have a YOUNG up and coming star in Josh Uche

The beautiful thing about Uche is that he’s only 24 years old. 24! The Patriots have somebody that can be an anchor on their defense for the next 10 years if they really want that to happen.

We’ve seen that Belichick is willing to spend money when it’s absolutely necessary. Look at the 2021 off-season if you need any further proof. So why wouldn’t Belichick and the Patriots lock up a guy that can hold down a defensive unit for the long-term?

With pieces coming in and out of the Patriots organization, it only makes more sense to keep a guy like Uche around for the foreseeable future. You really are going to let this guy walk after the 2023 season? Not on my watch!

The bottom line with Josh Uche and the New England Patriots

This Patriots team has something special in a guy like Josh Uche. He’s quick, smart, and can get to the quarterback extremely well. He is the only other guy with a double digit sack total on the team.

Time for Matt Patricia to open up the playbook. dark. Next

If you let this guy walk after 2023, it would continue to follow the Patriot mold of not signing players long-term, when it’s deserved. The Patriots have a guy that can continue to be a big-time playmaker on defense in Josh Uche. Get it done, Bill! Keep Uche in a Patriots uniform for the foreseeable future. If not, that would be a regrettable mistake!
