What do you do when your favorite NFL team’s offense is an abomination every single week? That is what us New England Patriots fans go through when we watch the 2022 offense. The predictability, lack of creativity, bad play calling, awful turnovers; you name it and the Patriots do it.

There’s also the desperate need for a number one receiver. The Patriots had a good core group of number two or three wide receivers. But there isn’t that clear cut number one. But could Las Vegas Raider Davante Adams be the answer to that problem?

The Raiders said they are benching Derek Carr for the rest of the 2022 season, with it looking like he’ll be gone in 2023. So with things bad in Vegas, could a Davante Adams trade to the Patriots be in the cards? Let’s have some fun with this one shall we?

Davante Adams would give the New England Patriots more life on offense

With a decent offensive coordinator in the mix for the 2023 season, Adams could bring a sense of life to the Patriots offense.

Adams is without a doubt one of the best route runners in the NFL. He can make defensive backs and safeties look silly with his combination of route running, speed, and hands.

It can also open up a lot more opportunities for the other receivers, like Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers, and others. When one receiver gets a lot of attention, then it can make the other receivers around him that much more effective.

Davante Adams will make Mac Jones better for the New England Patriots

Not only would Adams make the other receivers better, but he’d definitely help Mac Jones in his third NFL season.

Think about some of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Josh Allen is a perfect example. In his third season, he was able to throw the ball to Stefon Diggs. Look at the jump he’s made in the last few seasons! He’s now an MVP caliber talent.

Now, I’m not saying Mac Jones will be like Josh Allen. But at least a receiver like Adams would give Mac a legit number one threat and could help his numbers jump up dramatically. It’s worked for other NFL quarterbacks. Why not do the same for Mac Jones?

The New England Patriots can help the Las Vegas Raiders out

This can be the ultimate win for both sides.

The Patriots, like we’ve said several times now, can get their number one receiving threat.

The Raiders on the other hand can start over. They significantly underachieved in Josh McDaniels’ first year at the helm. If Derek Carr leaves, will they try to get a Tom Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo? Maybe, but what good would that do for their long-term success?

Sure, Adams contract would be huge. But could Belichick restructure it? Probably!

The bottom line is that Adams could immediately come in and make a difference in this Patriots offense. He’d be with a young quarterback, Bill Belichick, and (hopefully!) a legitimate OC; along with a pretty good defense too.

Will this happen? Probably not. But should the Patriots at least get on the phone with the Raiders this off-season. Yes, yes, a thousand times: YES!
