Boston Bruins got two steals from the Buffalo Sabres
What the Boston Bruins have done so far during the 2022-2023 season is simply remarkable. With a 28-4-3 record, they are a good seven points ahead of every other team in the NHL.
There are a lot of reasons why they are successful. We can talk about the Patrice Bergeron, Brad, Marchand, David Pastrnak trio just to start. But we’re going to dig in deeper than that!
Two parts of the Bruins that need more recognition are left winger Taylor Hall and goaltender Linus Ullmark. So basically what we’re trying to say is that the Bruins got two steals from the Buffalo Sabres.
How convenient too that these two teams play before the New Year begins!
The Boston Bruins got a steal in the Taylor Hall trade
In April of 2021, the Bruins got one of the luckiest breaks to happen to a professional sports team. They were able to poach a good player away from a bad team because of said bad team being out of playoff contention.
Hall was sent, along with Curtis Lazar, to the Bruins in exchange for Anders Bjork and a 2021 second round draft pick. The 2018 Hart Memorial Trophy winner then signed a four year contract extension with the Bruins. What a deal the Bruins got!
Especially with this season, Taylor Hall is on a third line with Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith. That’s one of the more talented third lines in all of hockey!
You’re telling me that third line wouldn’t dominate in the plus/minus category on a nightly basis? News flash, they’re performing extremely well.

Hall is playing very well this season, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists in 35 games played this year. Safe to say, with all of the talent the Bruins have on the first two lines; the 6’1 left winger playing third line for you is a good problem to have!
The Boston Bruins got another steal in Linus Ullmark
Linus Ullmark signed a four year contract with the Bruins in 2021, similar to Taylor Hall. Ullmark was ultimately splitting time with young goaltender Jeremy Swayman. This year is very different.
Ullmark leads the NHL in goalie wins. In 23 starts this season, the 6’4 goalie from Sweden has registered a 20-1-1 record with a 1.90 goals against average. For good measure, he also has a .938 save percentage.
Goaltending has been a big question mark for the Bruins since Tuukka Rask retired last year. With the way Ullmark is playing, the Bruins have a chance to do something special this season.
The bottom line with the Boston Bruins
The Bruins should be thanking the Sabres for Hall and Ullmark.
These two guys are going to be an integral part in the Bruins continued success this season. We all know this is probably the last ride for guys like Bergeron and Krejci.
But the other guys need to do their part in contributing to the production.
So if Ullmark and Hall help get the Bruins to their ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup, basically stealing them from the Sabres will be a big part as to why it will happen. Thanks Buffalo!
