With the way the New England Patriots offense was in 2022, it’s no wonder they are looking for reinforcements.

It started with the coaching staff hires of Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Then came Adrian Klemm to help out the offensive line.

Now the question is: where does the talent upgrade on the offense come from? On the popular Boston sports media radio/tv show “Felger and Massarotti”, there were some rumblings about how the Patriots are looking for a big name receiver.

Who is that big name receiver you ask? It is none other than San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

New England Patriots getting a dynamic playmaker in Deebo Samuel

There’s no secret as to what Deebo Samuel can do with the football in his hands.

The former South Carolina wide receiver really can serve as a dual threat. He’s electric in the passing game, creating separation from DB’s and corners.

But not only is his receiving game at an elite level, you can use him in the running game too. Think about it in terms of jet sweeps and quick screens. This is similar to what we thought Kendrick Bourne‘s role would be in New England.

Give me the guy that scored 14 touchdowns in 2021 on his way to a Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro selection!

New England Patriots righting the wrong of the 2019 draft with Deebo Samuel

Let’s all take a look back at the stacked wide receiver draft of 2019, shall we?

During that draft, the Patriots were coming off a Super Bowl win and looking to add another receiver for Tom Brady. They chose to go the route of N’Keal Harry.

We all know how that ended. With a trade to the Chicago Bears and not another minute of bad N’Keal Harry football had to be watched!

The Patriots should certainly right the wrong with Samuel here. Besides Samuel, think of the other receivers the Patriots could’ve had instead of Harry. D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown just to name a couple! ALONG with Samuel.

With the way things are going in San Francisco with the quarterback, could Bill Belichick get it right this time with a big trade for the former South Carolina receiver?

The bottom line with Deebo Samuel and the New England Patriots

98.5 the Sportshub might be onto something with the Patriots “sniffing around” for the talented 49ers receiver.

Look, my philosophy is to get better anyway that you possibly can. Mac Jones is in a crucial season, coming into 2023. He could use a weapon like Samuel as his number one receiver.

Next. The case against re-signing Nelson Agholor. dark

With the current signed receivers of Bourne, Devante Parker, and Tyquan Thornton; this team needs more out of that position. Those three are solid, but another big-time receiver makes that group even stronger.

Why not shock the entire NFL and put up what is necessary to land Deebo in New England? You missed out on him once almost five years ago. Why miss out on him again, if you have a realistic chance of acquiring him?
