The Boston Bruins won against the Ottawa Senators 3-1 on a President’s Day Matinee. They just extended their win streak to four games in a row after winning against the Islanders on Saturday evening.

The Ottawa Senators blew out the St. Louis Blues 7-2 at home yesterday before traveling to TD Garden to face the Bruins.

This was the first win against the Senators this season as they lost their previous two matchups against each other on December 27 and October 18.

Before the game started, the Bruins had a pregame celebration for David Krejci for his 1,000th career game, which he achieved on January 16th 6-0 shutout against the Philadelphia Flyers. Krejci is the 7th Boston Bruins player to play 1,000 games in the Black & Gold uniform. He joined Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Don Sweeney, Ray Bourque, Wayne Cashman, and Johnny Bucyk on the list of Bruins who have played 1,000 games for them.

There was also a funny moment before the game when Bruins National Anthem singer Todd Angilly mixed the lyrics of O’ Canada and the Star Bangled Banner and then when he realized it he just laughed it off and moved on with O’ Canada to honor the Senators.

Boston Bruins did excellent on the Penalty Kill in the 1st period

In the last game against the Senators, the Boston Bruins allowed a Power Play goal from Sens forward Tim Stutzle on December 27.

This time the Bruins were 3/3 on the Penalty Kill in this game, which helped them win their first matchup against the Senators this season.

One such power play that the Bruins killed was a 5-on-3 powerplay in the 1st period. They were because Craig Smith tripped Artem Zub and Bergeron hooking Stutzle. Shortly after that power play expired, Jake DeBrusk scored his 2nd goal since returning to the ice against the Islanders on Saturday.

The other power play that the Bruins had to face was when Krejci tripped Mathieu Joseph and the Bruins were able to kill that penalty off.

The Bruins haven’t allowed a single power play goal in their four-game winning streak, going 12/12 on the penalty kill.

Boston Bruins Player of the game: David Pastrnak

David Pastrnak scored 2 goals in the win against the Ottawa Senators. This is his 8th time this season that Pastrnak has scored multiple goals, and the Boston Bruins have won all those games including the January 16 shutout against the Flyers.

Pastrnak’s two goals were in the 2nd and 3rd period, and both were assisted by Charlie McAvoy, who also assisted on the DeBrusk goal in the 1st period.

Look at these amazing goals…

Pastrnak leads the Eastern Conference in goals with 41 on the season and is currently one behind Connor McDavid for running in the Maurice Richard Trophy at the end of the season.

Shall we say, Pastrnak is one of the biggest why the Bruins are the best team in the NHL right now, and at record pace, he could very well be taking them to a Stanley Cup final to win it all.

Also Pastrnak became the 5th Bruin to have 3+ 40+ goal seasons in the Black & Gold uniform, as he also had them last season and the 2019-20 season. He joins Phil Esposito (who turned 81 today), Rick Middleton, Cam Neely, and Ken Hodge on the list.

The Bruins will start their 4-game road trip on Thursday when they face the Seattle Kraken at 10 pm eastern on NESN.
