Boston Celtics get revenge vs Cavs: Tatum, Horford, Rob Williams shine
By Zachary McMahon
The Boston Celtics won against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night 117-113. It was a bounce back win from a loss against the New York Knicks on Monday Night and were knocked out of the No.1 spot in the Eastern Conference in favor of the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Cavs are fresh off a 118-93 win against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. The Cavs have won both matchups this season in overtime on October 28 and November 2, so it was revenge time for the Celtics.
The Cavs are in 4th place in the Eastern Conference with a 39-26 record, so this matchup might be a potential playoff matchup and they play like the playoffs every time they face each other.
Jaylen Brown was back from missing Monday’s loss for personal reasons. Mike Muscala was listed as questionable with right knee tendinopathy but was active for the game.
Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers featured two elite scorers
This game was between two high scorers in Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell, and they did not disappoint. Mitchell scored 44 points while Tatum scored 41 in the Eastern Conference duel. I think Mitchell has some extra motivation to score for the Cavs given that Damian Lillard recently scored his record of 71 points, that he achieved in January.
The Celtics took off in the third quarter when they outscored the Cavs 41-26, but the Cavs were able to bring it back to four at the end of the game by several defensive plays and three-pointers by Darius Garland, but the C’s were able to hold on for the win.
All five starters reached double-figures with Tatum’s 41, Al Horford with 23, Brown with 16, Marcus Smart with 14 and Robert Williams III with 11.
Here’s the three stars of the game….
