Boston Bruins clinch President’s Trophy with Pasta’s overtime goal

The Boston Bruins won against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night in a 2-1 Overtime win. The Bruins captured the President’s Trophy for the third time in ten years.
The Bruins lost 2-1 to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night after winning seven straight games. The Blue Jackets had lost their last two games against the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens.
Jakub Lauko was back on the 4th line after missing Tuesday’s loss against Nashville after suffering a upper-body injury in the win against Carolina on Sunday. Jakub Zboril was in for Matt Grzelcyk and partnered with Connor Clifton on the third defensive line. Linus Ullmark started the 2nd straight game between the pipes for the Bruins.
The Bruins have won their two other games against the Blue Jackets this season and have now won six straight games against the Blue Jackets dating back to last season.
Bruins clinch the President’s Trophy and most wins in a B’s season
The Bruins won their 58th game of the season, which is a new franchise record. The Bruins also won the President’s Trophy because they got points against the Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes lost 3-2 against the Detroit Red Wings.
Now the Bruins are four points away from tying the 1995-96 Red Wings and 2018-2019 Tampa Bay Lightning for most wins in a single season which is at 62 wins currently. The Bruins tied the 1970-71 team for most points in a season with 121 points.
Boston Bruins play of the game: David Pasternak scores the Overtime goal
David Pasternak scored his 53rd goal of the season to clinch the victory for the Bruins in Overtime. Pasternak was assisted by Hampus Lindholm and Tomas Nosek.
This was how Pasta was able to get past the goaltender.
Pasta has now scored three overtime goals this season which he scored in the February 14th matchup against the Dallas Stars and November 25 against the Canes.
The Bruins will be playing their last road trip this weekend when they travel to Pittsburgh and St. Louis before playing three out of the last four regular season games at TD Garden.
