Boston Bruins set points record with win vs Penguins; Pasta scores hatty

The Boston Bruins won against the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 on Saturday Afternoon. The Bruins won against the Blue Jackets in Overtime on Thursday night.
The Boston Bruins set a new record for most franchise points in a season with 123 points and are three games away from tying the most wins in a season in NHL History. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery set the record for most wins as a first-year coach in NHL history.
The Penguins won against the Predators 2-0 on Thursday night. The Bruins won their last game against the Penguins in the NHL Winter Classic 2-1 on January 2nd at Fenway Park. The B’s are now completed in the regular season series with a 2-1 edge.
Jeremy Swayman started between the pipes for the Bruins as he has now won his 5th straight start at goaltender, and he made 21 saves in the win. Matt Grizelcyk is back on the 4th line after being a healthy scratch for Thursday night’s game. Patrice Bergeron was not active in this game due to rest for nagging injuries.
Boston Bruins player of the game: David Pastrnak
David Pastrnak had his 14th career hat trick in the win against the Penguins. Pasternak scored his 100th point in his first goal of the game, which came in the 1st period. Pasta’s 14th career hat-trick is now tied for the 2nd most hat tricks in Bruins history with legend Cam Neely. Phil Eposito is leading with 26 Hat-Tricks as a Bruin.
Pasta’s last goal of the game which capped off the hat trick was the game-winning goal that got the B’s out of a 3-3 tie with the Penguins with 2 minutes left in the 3rd period.
Two of Pasta’s goals were assisted by Pavel Zacha, who had three assists in the game which brings him to 54 points in the season.
Boston Bruins play of the game: Charlie McAvoy scores first goal in PowerPlay
Charlie McAvoy scored the first goal of the game when he scored with 1 second left in the Bruins PowerPlay in the 1st period.
Look at McAvoy finding a wide open lane to shoot the puck in the net.
This was McAvoy’s 2nd PowerPlay goal of the season as he scored in the November 23 5-2 loss against the Florida Panthers. Also, this was the 10th career PowerPlay goal of McAvoy’s career.
This helped open the flood gates for Pasta, as he would score the next three goals to win the game.
Boston will be travelling to St. Louis to face the Blues Sunday at 3:30 on TNT as they look for their 60th win on route for pursuing the record for most wins in a season.
