There were a lot of mixed emotions for Boston Red Sox fans on Sunday afternoon.

On one hand, they got back to above .500 by sweeping the Detroit Tigers in a three game weekend series at Comerica Park.

On the other hand, it looks like the Red Sox could be losing a key member of their lineup already.

In the 9th inning, Adam Duvall dove for a shallow fly ball in center field and ended up exiting the game shortly afterwards. Some are fearing that Duvall injured the same left wrist that he hurt last season.

Obviously, we haven’t heard an official report on the injury just yet. But if the Red Sox center fielder has to miss an extended period of time, then that’s a bad break for this team.

So Red Sox fans better hope that Adam Duvall’s wrist is okay and won’t have to miss too much time.

Boston Red Sox having a hot start from Adam Duvall

The signing of Adam Duvall in the off-season was questioned by some and loved by others. But the results are the results and so far; the former World Series champion has lived up to the hype.

In nine games, the outfielder is hitting for a .483 average. He has four homeruns, 14 RBI’s, 11 runs scored and a 1.683 OPS. Talk about as hot of a start as you can get!

We were wondering where the power was going to come from in the Red Sox lineup with guys like Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez playing elsewhere in 2023. Duvall has steadied the ship so far.

So if he has to miss a certain period of time, where will that production come from? The guy won A.L. Player of the Week in the first week of the season for goodness sake!

Say the worst happens and Duvall is out for an extended period of time, right? Then you need to figure out what your next options are going to be to replace him.

Raimel Tapia is an option. He has speed and has shown glimpses of good at-bats in his limited playing time with the Red Sox in 2023.

Maybe we could see Jarren Duran back up with the big club! He has been a guy that people want to see pan out, considering he was one of the best Red Sox prospects at one point.

Otherwise, you’re going to put more of a strain on guys like Masataka Yoshida and Alex Verdugo to do more than they currently are. Not a good place to be!

Hoping for the best for Adam Duvall

We need to hope for the best and hope that it’s a day-to-day type of situation.

So we’ll wait until Monday to hear any reports on what happened to Adam Duvall and that wrist of his. Keep your fingers crossed, Red Sox nation!
