Hear me out Boston Red Sox fans.

The Sox just fininished a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels and who was the headline of the series? Shohei Ohtani of course!

The Red Sox (like any team) would greatly benefit from a generational talent like Ohtani.

After Sunday’s win over the Halos, fans flocked outside of the Angels bus to get a glimpse of the best baseball player on the planet. Now, imagine if he decided that Boston was going to be his new home?

Boston Red Sox need Shohei Ohtani to fill seats and excite fans

So far this season, Boston has had about 31,000 fans per game. This number has been significantly blown up thanks to the past three games however, where according to Alex Speier have been sellout games.

Now let’s look at the owners, specifically John Henry.

This past offseason he went through some heavy criticism (rightfully so) as he lost another home grown player to a West Coast team. He’s also known as being a low level spender from this Red Sox team as of recent and with Liverpool overseas. Add that together with the pitch clock speeding up games therefor, a lack in profit with beer sales and other concessions and you have a billionaire owner losing money everywhere.

Now, if said owner is watching his ballpark fill up to the brim every game because of one specific player, don’t you think the owner would even so much as talk to their agent once they’re a free agent (this coming offseason).

Also, Boston just added their own Japanese player who established a great connection with the superstar while they won the World Baseball Classic together.

Frankly, winning the WBC was probably the best thing that could’ve happened for the Red Sox because when teams win a championship of any type together, it creates a brotherhood that can live on forever, as we heard from the 2013 World Series Champions before Sunday’s game.

Another factor to keep in, which most likely isn’t as strong a factor as I wish it was, is Ohtani just signed with New Balance and where is the New Balance headquarters located? That’s right, Boston, Massachusetts!

Now, if I were an athlete I would love to live close to my footwear and apparel partner so I could receive my free clothes and cleats easier (I’m joking of course)! But maybe, just maybe, Ohtani loves New Balance so much that he would be willing to relocate close to them.

Now back to Henry. Imagine if he could get Fenway Park sold out everyday? The amount of money, regardless of the pitch click, that would be coming his way could be enough that the $500 million investment on Ohtani would be worth it. Plus, he would help this Boston team in two positions that they desperately need.

Now, I don’t think Ohtani is going to come to Boston, but just imagine how cool that would be?
