On Tuesday night, the Celtics won Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks at TD Garden. The Celtics have now taken a 2-0 lead in the First Round series against the No. 7 Atlanta Hawks as they won Game 1 on Saturday night.

The Celtics started off slow with a 22-11 deficit in the 4th quarter before going on a 14-0 run to get ahead and they never lost their lead as they lead by 15 in the 2nd quarter and as many as 20 in the 3rd and for the rest of the night they didn’t let the lead go down below eight.

18. Final. 106. 125. 119

The Celtics had a block party as they had 12 blocks on the night which was 4th most blocks in a NBA Postseason game ever.

The Celtics have gained momentum towards the series win, potentially a sweep as they are half way from winning this series.

Here are the top three stars of the game.

1. Jayson Tatum stuffs the stat sheet again for the Celtics

Jayson Tatum had the Celtics only double-double in this game with a team-high 29 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Tatum also had six assists, 1 steal and 1 block on the night as he lead the team to victory. Tatum went 12/22 on field goals including 5/9 from beyond the ark.

The stat line makes Tatum the 2nd player in Celtics history to record 25+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5 three-pointers. The other was Paul Pierce in Game 3 of the 2002 Eastern Conference First Round against the Philadelphia 76ers.

This is around the same performance as in Game 1 as he went for a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

This is how tenacious Tatum was tonight…

2. Derrick White shows his excellence for the Celtics

Derrick White went off for 26 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists in the game. White is the 2nd guard in Celtics history to have 25+ points and 3+ blocks in a postseason game which joins Reggie Lewis who scored 26 points and blocked 3 shots in Game 6 of the 1992 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in which they would go on to lose in Game 7.

Derrick White has earned the starting job in the playoffs as he was the only Celtic player to play all 82 games this season. This was the 4th game this season that White had three blocks which more recently happened in the win on February 10 against the Charlotte Hornets.

White was sneaky after a free throw attempt by Jaylen Brown and a rebound by Jalen Johnson of the Hawks.

3. Brogdon from the LOGO

Malcolm Brogdon was a part of the eight-man rotation that Coach Mazzulla has been going with so far in the playoffs as he was off the bench. Brogdon almost had a Triple-Double with 13 points, 8 assists (team-high) and 7 rebounds. This would’ve been Brogdon’s first Triple-Double as a Celtic and 3rd in his career as he had two as a Pacer.

Also, the highlight play of the game was in the 1st quarter from Brogdon hit a buzzer-beater off the LOGO. That was one of the most exciting plays I’ve seen from the Celtics this season and it comes at a right time in the playoffs.
