As it currently stands, the Boston Bruins are currently tied at one game a piece with the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. If you’re a Bruins fan, that’s probably not quite what you were expecting with the way the team finished the season.

But that’s not even the most vital thing on all fans minds right now. What is on fans minds is when captain Patrice Bergeron will return to the ice.

Bergeron missed games one and two in Boston with an injury. Knowing Bergeron, he is doing everything he can to get back on the ice with his teammates.

So it goes without saying that the Boston Bruins need Patrice Bergeron back on the ice ASAP.

Boston Bruins having their first line center back in Patrice Bergeron

With a winning team, it usually helps to keep their lines in tact when the playoffs come around. It seems like that’s what the Bruins need with the potential return of Patrice Bergeron.

Having Bergeron back on the first line with Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk will be a huge sigh of relief for this team. They’ve been productive together all year and it allows for Pavel Zacha to go back to the second line with David Pastrnak.

The big thing with this Bruins team is their depth. With Bergeron back at his respective spot in the middle of the first line, it allows for that depth to become even stronger. I mean think about it, you have Taylor Hall and Charlie Coyle on the third line, even with Bergeron out!

So put him back into that spot, and you can mess around with the lines even more. The 6-foot-2 Bergeron controls so many pieces of the Bruins lines with his presence.

We as Bruins fans are all aware that this most likely the end of the road for Patrice Bergeron playing for the Bruins.

So having Bergeron sidelined for the first two games of a playoff run hurts a little bit more.

Plus let’s remember, this is the same guy that was playing with serious injuries in the playoffs, like a punctured lung. That’s how tough Bergeron has been throughout his career!

With the way this Bruins team has had exceptional regular season success, you know Bergeron is heart-broken that he can’t be out there with his teammates. So we need to see the future Bruin Hall of Famer on the ice ASAP to enjoy one last run at a Stanley Cup.

The bottom line with the Boston Bruins and Patrice Bergeron

Should the Bruins miraculously lose this series to the Panthers and Bergeron doesn’t play, that will be a horrible way to go out. I’d bet that doesn’t happen, but you never know!

It looks like Bergeron isn’t traveling to Florida. So we better see the veteran center back on T.D. Garden ice come game five. His ability to lead as well as still produce at a high level on the first line are vital for the Bruins to truly contend for the Stanley Cup.

Please get back on the ice soon, Bergy! We need you.
