Celtics News: All-NBA nod propels Jaylen Brown to Max money status
As the Boston Celtics are battling for their playoff lives, down 3-2 in the Eastern Conference semifinals to the Philadelphia 76ers; they’re still earning awards off the court.
We know how Malcolm Brogdon won NBA Sixth Man of the Year recently. The other day, Derrick White found his way onto the All-NBA defensive team.
But now, they have themselves a couple of All-NBA selections. Jayson Tatum made it onto the First-Team All-NBA squad. But the more important one is Jaylen Brown.
Brown earned himself an All-NBA Second Team selection, along with guys like Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, Jimmy Butler, and Donovan Mitchell.
If you’re a Celtics fan like me, you’re a big fan of this selection for a variety of reasons.
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown can earn a max extension
The good thing about Brown getting the nod to the All-NBA Second Team is that he can earn a max extension up to five years and $295 million.
If you’re a Celtics fan, you’re really excited about this possibility!
This is the best case scenario for all involved. Jaylen Brown has proven he is among the NBA’s best players around the entire league. The Celtics don’t have to worry about teams outbidding for Brown’s services in the future, should they choose to give him the extension.
Why shouldn’t they at this point? Keeping Brown and Tatum together is the best option for the Celtics moving forward. I don’t care what people like Colin Cowherd have to say, with their hypothetical trades.
Pay the man, Brad. He deserves it for all that he’s done so far and for what he will do for you in the future!
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown proving his worth in the NBA
Jaylen Brown continues to be doubted by a lot of people in the NBA landscape. So earning a big to an All-NBA team will wake up a lot of people’s eyes to the fact that he is among the NBA’s elite players.

On a lot of teams in the NBA, Brown would be a true number one option. It just so happens that he’s on a team with Jayson Tatum, who at one point this regular season was getting some consideration for NBA MVP.
It’s great to see that the rest of the NBA and the world for that matter, are seeing what us Celtics fans see in JB’s game. A consistent scorer who can play good defense!
The bottom line with the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown
This is a win-win situation for all involved. Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics organization, and the fans all benefit from this!
This team and city needs Jaylen Brown in order to hopefully complete the mission of winning a championship. But it also comes down to whether or not the former California Golden Bear wants to stay in Boston for the long-term.
When you break down everything, why wouldn’t Brown want to stay here now? Earning close to $300 million, playing for a potential championship for the foreseeable future, being a positive influence in the city of Boston? It’s all beneficial to Jaylen Brown.
So let’s hope a deal gets done and we get to see Jaylen and Jayson in their prime years where they belong: in Boston.
