Mother’s Day Sunday just got even better with a little Boston Celtics basketball taking place.

The Celtics find themselves in a do-or-die Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday afternoon.

Now, we’re all probably thinking that the Celtics shouldn’t even be in this position because they are the overall, more talented team. You’d be right with that statement!

But alas, here we are. This is where we stand. One game for the right to take on the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

With Game 7’s come the legends. Kelly Olynyk and Grant Williams come to mind in Celtics history.

So who will be the guy that steps up in Game 7 this time? If I had to take an educated guess, it would be Celtics veteran forward Al Horford.

Why Al you may ask? Let’s discuss.

Boston Celtics getting nothing from Al Horford the last two games

The last two games for Al Horford have been two of the worst he’s played in his career as a Boston Celtic.

Horford has two points scored in the last two games. Two! That includes an 0-7 shooting performance in Game 5 at home. It’s not like a lot of these shots were tightly contested either.

Everyone knows that the Celtics are at their best when they move the ball around and hit open shots. We also know Al Horford is at his very best when he’s hitting open shots and being aggressive.

We haven’t seen that side of Horford for two games now. Hopefully, that changes with one game to determine your season.

Boston Celtics having an Al Horford with a grudge

We all know that Horford is at his best for the Boston Celtics when he has a chip on his shoulder. Whether it’s a comment or a gesture, when Al gets mad; the opposition is in huge trouble.

What better grudge can you think of than Horford and the Philadelphia 76ers? Remember, Horford signed a four year deal worth $97 million in July 2019. He only lasted one season before being traded to Oklahoma City. There’s some bad blood there!

So in Game 7, you don’t think Horford will have it in the back of his mind? Ending Philly’s season, at home, and getting a little payback at the franchise? That’s the ending of a Hollywood script right there!

A great time for Al Horford to turn it around

If anybody needs to turn it around in a hurry for the Boston Celtics to win Game 7, it’s Horford. That’s why it wouldn’t surprise me if he had a huge game Sunday afternoon.

Next. Jaylen Brown must bring the energy to Game 7. dark

We know that Al can bring leadership even when he is having an off night. Game 6 is a perfect example of that.

But we can’t rely on just the words of “Big Al” to win and advance. His play, more importantly his shot, need to come back at a high level.

Until then, we’ll all just be a big bundle of nerves. Maybe Al hits a three early and settles us all down!

Just win Sunday, Celtics! Please? Get Al his ring!
