Celtics 2024 NBA Championship Odds Send a Clear Message

Now that the NBA offseason has quieted down, we have a pretty good sense of where teams stand heading into the 2023-24 season and which clubs will likely compete for a championship.
Over at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Celtics currently have the second-best odds to win the title in 2024 at +500, which is barely behind the defending champion Denver Nuggets (+475).
That sends a pretty clear message to Boston: the time to win is now.

The Celtics have been knocking on the championship door for a while now. They’ve appeared in five of the last seven Eastern Conference Finals and fell two wins short of a title in 2022. They keep coming close, but haven’t been able to get over the hump since 2008.
This year, however, that needs to change. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are in their primes, and they have plenty of playoff experience under their belts now. So does head coach Joe Mazzulla, who took his team to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals last year as a rookie HC. His coaching staff has been beefed up around him, too, which can’t hurt.
Boston also made a splash this summer by trading for All-Star center Kristaps Porzingis, giving the C’s another talented big to work alongside Robert Williams III.
Now do they deserve to be the favorites to win the NBA Championship? Is there value in betting on them despite the recent playoff struggles?
Well, the Celtics are clearly the best team in the Eastern Conference this year (on paper, at least). They’re better than the Bucks, Heat and 76ers (and obviously everyone else below them), giving Boston a relatively easy path to the Finals. The real competition is in the West.
If Boston does make it there, they have the offensive firepower and necessary defensive presence to compete with anyone. They’re also battle-tested and should be extra motivated to finish the job after their recent string of playoff defeats.
