3. Demario Douglas
Local media is signing Demario Douglas’ praises, so much so that the noise is deafening at this point — he’s been that good. It sounds like New England snuck another late-round steal by other franchises, as Douglas has routinely showed out since camp’s started.
Now that Douglas has proven he can hang in camp with his NFL teammates, it’d be great to see him do it in a live-game setting. After all, it’s one thing to make defenders miss in practice, which often favors offenses due to the concerns about injury playmakers.
Douglas’ snap count was a huge talking point after the first exhibition, as the rookie logged just two total plays on the field. Many think this was the Pats “hiding” the exciting talent so opposing teams have even less film on the former Liberty stud.
While the mind games are fun, winning actual games is better, and that requires comfortability in live settings. If New England wants to set Douglas up for big start to his career, it’d be wise to get him on the field against Green Bay. And if that happens, watch out.
