3 Patriots Most Likely to Be Traded Before Roster Cutdown Day
By Tyler Maher
3. Jack Jones
The Patriots are in a tough spot with Jones, who is facing legal trouble after being caught with two loaded firearms at Logan Airport earlier this summer.
On the one hand, it seems premature to cut such a promising young player, especially when he has yet to be officially convicted guilty. On the other hand, New England runs the risk of losing him for nothing if he does get hit with jail time.
Accordingly, the Patriots should at least consider trading Jones while he’s still eligible to play. His court case undoubtedly hurts his value, but there could be another team willing to take a chance on him.
Furthermore, Jones is a headache New England doesn’t need right now. The team has enough on its plate trying to learn a new offense and compete in a difficult AFC East this year, and Jones’ legal battle has been an ongoing distraction.
Belichick usually doesn’t tolerate things like that, so I’d be surprised if Jones sticks around. Plus, getting something for him (even if it’s not much) would be better than nothing.
Backing the Patriots is obviously going to be no guarantee this season. Unless you do it on Caesars Sportsbook, that is. It doesn’t even matter if that bet wins or loses, you get the full bonus either way. This offer expires soon though, so make sure to cash in now before it’s too late!
