3. Teoscar Hernandez
If the Red Sox do go after a bat, I’d love to see them land Teoscar Hernandez.
Boston needs more right-handed power in its lineup, especially if Adam Duvall departs in free agency. With three straight seasons of 20+ homers under his belt, Hernandez would fit the bill nicely.
Similar to Ryu, Hernandez is also comfortable in the AL East after spending a good amount of time in Toronto. Hernandez is also the type of high-power, low-OBP hitter that Bloom has targeted for his outfields lately (Hunter Renfroe, Duvall etc.).
Hernandez is going to be 31 next season, so he should still have a few more productive years ahead of him. He’s also been pretty healthy and durable for the most part, playing at least 130 games in three straight seasons.
If Duvall leaves and the Red Sox trade Alex Verdugo, Hernandez could be a good fit for this lineup and would add some much-needed thump.
