3. Trent Brown & 4. Sidy Sow

Remember those offensive line injuries we mentioned? Brown and Sow were both placed in concussion protocol earlier this week, putting their Week 2 status in jeopardy.

This is just a gut feeling here, but my guess is that neither one will play. You never want to mess around with a concussion, especially so early in the season. If a player plays through it and suffers another one, that could be incredibly dangerous. Belichick is known for pushing his players, but he’s also smart enough to take concussions seriously.

New England will probably err on the side of caution with both players. The team is counting on Brown to be a veteran anchor on the offensive line and Sow is a rookie, so you don’t want to set either of those guys back and potentially ruin their seasons. Give them some time to recover and hope they’re ready for Week 3.

Fortunately for the Patriots, they have plenty of depth at O-line after keeping 11 offensive linemen on their original 53-man roster. While most of them are already banged up or dealing with some kind of injury, Belichick should be able to piece it together again like he did last week, even if it means starting another rookie again.
