2. David Pastrnak

First off, let me just say that there are few players in today’s NHL with David Pastrnak’s scoring ability.

The 27-year-old Czech sniper finished his ninth professional season with a career-high 61 goals — a 21-goal improvement over his previous best. He also added 52 assists for a total of 113 points, which was tied for third-most in the league.

Nevertheless, it won’t be surprising if Pastrnak’s numbers aren’t nearly as high this season.

After all, the former 2014 first-rounder no longer has the luxury of sharing the ice with Bergeron and Krejci. The pair of retired forwards were two of Pastrnak’s most frequent linemates in 2022-23, per Money Puck.

For reference, Bergeron assisted on 12 of Pastrnak’s goals last Krejci recorded a helper on 20 of them. On top of that, Pastrnak also assisted on 14 of Bergeron and Krejci’s combined 43 goals (32.6%).

Pastrnak’s only 27 years old, so I see him having another 40-plus-goal, 90-plus-point season. With that being said, expecting him to come close to last season’s totals might be asking for too much.
