The 2024-25 NHL season is officially in full swing. Having said that, don't be surprised if these three Boston Bruins don't survive the year with the franchise.

2. John Beecher, C

After a strong USHL showcase, the Bruins drafted John Beecher with the No. 30 pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The Elmira, NY native played three seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Michigan before splitting the last few years between the NHL and AHL.

Beecher made his NHL debut with the Bruins last season and it was a mixed bag, to say the least. While the former Wolverine won 54.6% of his faceoffs, he didn't contribute much offensively, only tallying seven goals and three assists in 52 games before adding another two points in 12 postseason appearances.

The Bruins surrendered 47 power-play goals during the 2023-24 season and Beecher was on the ice for 11 of them (23.4%). In fact, Boston's goaltenders only had an .864 SV% while shorthanded whenever the 23-year-old forward was on the ice.

Beecher is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the year, meaning he must step up if he wants his next contract to be a good one. If he doesn't have a strong showing, the Bruins could consider taking him to arbitration or let him walk outright.
