3 Bruins Who Won't Survive Beyond the 2024-25 Season

The 2024-25 NHL season is officially in full swing. Having said that, don't be surprised if these three Boston Bruins don't survive the year with the franchise.

Looking to add to their forward depth ahead of the 2023-24 NHL season, the Bruins signed veteran forward Patrick Brown to a two-year, $1.6 million contract. The former undrafted center played for Boston College during his collegiate days, leaving fans to hope that a homecoming could bring out the best that he has to offer.

Brown ended up suiting up in 42 games with Providence, registering 11 goals and 21 assists as one of the AHL affiliate's top players. Much to the dismay of Bruins fans, though, the Bloomfield Hills, MI native continued to deal with a struggle he can't shake: his AHL production never follows him to the NHL.

The 32-year-old was given 11 opportunities with the Bruins and only managed to tally one assist with a minus-3 plus/minus rating. He was only given the chance to appear in one playoff game and couldn't make the most of it, having gone pointless in just over eight minutes of action.

Brown had two points in three preseason games with the Bruins this fall, although it's too early to tell if that's a sign of better things to come or a fluke. He'll need to bring that level of success into the regular season and beyond if he hopes to be re-signed by the franchise before the offseason.
