As we reflect on the 2024 regular season, we look back at a disappointing season for the New England Patriots. But the disappointment of 2024 spread well beyond just the players currently with the organization. Some had left New England, hoping to avoid the rebuild with new teams. But switching squads was an absolute failure for some of them.

Here are three players who left the Patriots only to completely flop with their new teams in 2024. It will be interesting to see how this poor season will affect the trajectory of these Patriots alum careers going forward.

3. Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott's inclusion on the list of disappointing former Patriots should be no surprise to anyone. Elliott spent a season in New England between his stints in Dallas and put up very underwhelming numbers while with the Patriots.

He finished his lone season in New England with 642 rushing yards in 74 carries. After Eliott completed his lackluster season with the Patriots, he returned to Dallas, where his career continued to spiral downward.

After Jerry Jones made the baffling decision to give Elliot a new opportunity with the Cowboys, Eliott quickly squandered his opportunity and merely became a distraction for the Cowboys' offense. He finished his second stint in Dallas with only 226 yards rushing on 74 carries.

Eliott’s time in Dallas unceremoniously ended when he was released from the team on December 31. After his release from the Cowboys, he was shockingly signed by the Los Angeles Chargers in preparation for their playoff game against the Houston Texans, but he was not given any playing time in the Chargers' defeat to the Texans and is already a free agent again.

Overall, after two consecutive disappointing seasons for Eliott, his career could be nearing an end. It is hard to believe how quickly Elliott's career has gone sideways since he was one of the top rushers in the league just a few years ago.
