3. Ja’Lynn Polk

The second-round pick hasn’t been involved a lot in the Patriots’ passing game as Brissett hasn’t had time in the pocket this season. However, with Maye’s arm, New England might be able to hit on some explosive plays for Polk.

This season, the 6-foot-1 wide receiver has nine receptions (19 targets) for 74 yards in five games. In last week’s loss to the Dolphins, Polk had one reception (six targets) for 13 yards.

Even though he only had one reception and a drop, it’s encouraging to see Polk’s targets at six after having seven in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

But what’s not encouraging is Polk’s average separation, which is 1.8, according to Next Gen Stats. The only receiver with a lower average separation is his teammate K.J. Osborn (1.4).

According to Next Gen Stats, average separation is the distance (in yards) measured between a WR/TE and the nearest defender at the time of catch or incompletion. The Pats would like to see him improve over the season as they need an explosive playmaker, which we know Polk is capable of based on his college production.
