3 Patriots on the Chopping Block Next After Josh Uche Trade

3. Davon Godchaux, DT
Unlike the first two players mentioned above, Godchaux could be a wildcard player who gets moved by the trade deadline.
The Patriots likely do not want to move Godchaux after signing him to a two-year, $18 million contract extension this summer. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported over the weekend that the San Francisco 49ers have their eyes on Godchaux and Pats WR Kendrick Bourne.
"“I’ve been told to keep an eye on the Patriots -- who will listen to any proposal -- with run-stuffing interior defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and ex-Niners wide receiver Kendrick Bourne among the possible targets.”"
- Dianna Russini of The Athletic
If the Patriots were to part ways with Godchaux, it would likely have to be for a top-100 pick as their defensive tackle depth is not great this season. The 29-year-old defensive lineman doesn’t have a sack but has recorded 29 combined tackles. Godchaux also doesn’t have a QB pressure through eight games this season, but that could change if he joins a different team.
Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal reported on Monday that the Pats have told teams they are open for business and league sources expect them to peel off another veteran or two before next week’s trade deadline.
That said, Patriots fans should prepare to see different faces on both sides of the ball to kickoff next month.
