3 Patriots Whose Exits Would Be Addition by Subtraction This Offseason
3. Rhamondre Stevenson, RB
With the Patriots' 2024 offense ranking among the league's worst, it isn't shocking that Rhamondre Stevenson didn't have the best performance last year.
Suiting up in 15 games, Stevenson recorded 801 rushing yards on 207 carries and 168 receiving yards on 33 catches, scoring a career-high eight TDs along the way. Although those statistics aren't awful, his performance becomes more disappointing when you consider he finished with career lows in yards per carry (3.9), yards per reception (5.1), and yards per touch (4.0).
If that wasn't bad enough, Stevenson paced all running backs with a whomping seven fumbles, matching his combined total from the three previous seasons. No matter how it's examined, that's an extremely discouraging statistic.
If Vrabel wants to start fresh with an RB1 he can trust, Stevenson could be on his way out. The Patriots won't have to eat any dead cap if they trade him this offseason, meaning a deal would create an extra $5.3 million for them to play with.
Stevenson's stock might not be sky-high, but there's bound to be an RB-needy team (Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, etc.) willing to roll the dice on him. He's only turning 27 years old in February, meaning he still has the potential to be serviceable until the end of his contract.
Regardless of who's willing to make a deal with the Patriots, it's evident that they can benefit by moving on from Stevenson.
