1. Javonte Green, SF/SG, Pelicans

Green, who was signed by the Celtics in 2019 after going undrafted in 2015, has carved out a nice NBA career, playing for the Celtics, Bulls, and Pelicans. He is an athletic 6'5" wing who is shooting a career-best 38.2% from three this season with New Orleans.

The 31-year-old Virginia native could provide a much-needed spark off the bench for Boston. Green is known for his ability above the rim and has developed his 3-point shot as his career has progressed. This season, he is well on pace to make and attempt the most 3s of his career, showing that he is confident from behind the arc.

This season, Green is averaging 6.5 points, 3.5 assists, and one steal in 22 minutes per game for New Orleans. He is attempting 2.1 threes per game, the most of his six-year career.

His ability to defend on the perimeter along with his career-best percentage from three fits right into Mazzula's system, and he would be a familiar face for Brad Stevens, who coached him for 2 seasons in Boston (2019-20 and 2020-21).

In what has been a lost season for Green's current team, the New Orleans Pelicans sit at 12-35 and 14th in the West. Being 11 games out of the last play-in spot with Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones out indefinitely, it may be smart for the Pelicans to start thinking about next season and their future, as getting a return on Green at his max value would be a good start.

Boston could offer Jaden Springer and a future 2nd round pick to New Orleans for Green's services. Green would give the Celtics bench a familiar veteran presence and added playoff experience as they head into the second half of the season.

Green signed a 1-year, $2.4 million deal with New Orleans this past offseason, making him a free agent at season's end.
