4 Bruins on Thin Ice Heading Into December

The Boston Bruins have failed to reach expectations throughout the 2024-25 NHL season, resulting in these four players skating into December on thin ice.

3. Pavel Zacha, C

Much like Coyle, Pavel Zacha is another Bruins forward who went from having an impressive performance in 2023-24 to regressing this season.

In his second campaign in Boston, Zacha matched his career high of 21 goals while also registering a personal-best 38 assists and 59 points. He also scored more game-winning goals (6) and power play points (15) than before while also winning 54.8% of his faceoff draws, indicating that the Czech forward may have found the perfect team for him.

Although there's still time to turn things around this year, Zacha hasn't been having his most productive performance to date. The former 2015 sixth-overall selection has recorded three goals and four assists for seven points in 22 games. That puts him on pace for an 11-15-26 stat line if he doesn't miss another game, which is only two points more than the worst output of his career.

Zacha and the Bruins agreed on a four-year contract extension back in January 2023, meaning he's signed with the franchise for the next two seasons as well. Having said that, GM Sweeney might try to move the underperforming forward's contract if the latter continues to be a part of the problem rather than the solution.
