4 Bruins on Thin Ice Heading Into December

The Boston Bruins have failed to reach expectations throughout the 2024-25 NHL season, resulting in these four players skating into December on thin ice.

4. Trent Frederic, LW/C

A former 2016 first-round selection, Trent Frederic has struggled to live up to his draft status during his time with the Bruins. The fanbase hoped that changed last season, though, when the St. Louis, MO native amassed 18 goals and 40 assists in 82 games, potentially signaling that he was ready to take that next step forward.

Fast forward to the 2024-25 campaign when Frederic went from averaging 0.49 points per game last season to 0.27 this time around, tallying six points in Boston's first 22 games. The 6-foot-3 forward has also played to a career-worst minus-11 rating, which also happens to be the worst mark on the team.

If Frederic wants to stay in Boston for the remainder of the season (and beyond), he has to kickstart a turnaround sooner rather than later. The former Wisconsin Badger is slated to hit free agency in the offseason and failing to improve his situation could lead to the Bruins trying to rid themselves of him before the trade deadline.

Frederic is an important piece of the Bruins' bottom lines when he's on his game. He just needs to get back to being that player on a consistent basis if he wants to get off thin ice.
