4. Jacoby Brissett

The Patriots held the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In a stacked QB class, New England decided to make Drake Maye with the selection. That choice looks pretty smart after the flashes he's shown in his rookie season.

While that development is exciting for the future, New England brought in quarterback Jacoby Brissett during free agency. Last March, the Patriots gave Brissett a one-year, $8 million deal. All throughout the spring and summer, he got all the first-team reps.

He entered the campaign as QB1 but things didn't look good for the 32-year-old under center. The NC State product started in five games. He completed 59% of his throws for 826 yards, two passing touchdowns, and one interception.

Brissett failed to throw for more than 170 passing yards in any game this season. He also went 1-4 as the starter in New England.

With Maye clearly the future in Foxborough, there's no need to keep Brissett around. New England doesn't need to pay their backup QB that kind of money. They can use those funds elsewhere on the offense. Like offensive line and wide receiver.

Brissett's second stint in New England didn't go over the way he envisioned, but it's time to part ways. The 2016 third-round pick has played for five different teams in his career and he'll land on his feet again. It just won't be in New England for the 2025 season.
