4 Patriots Who Will Be Cut Without a Strong Second Half of Season
4. Sidy Sow, OL
Sidy Sow was expected to be a frequent offensive line contributor when the Patriots drafted him 117th overall in 2023. The Canadian offensive lineman wasn't perfect as a rookie, however, he showed enough potential that New England fans were excited to see what he could accomplish in Year 2.
Much to the dismay of his supports, Sow has taken a huge step back in his second NFL season.
The former Eastern Michigan blocker has struggled at providing his quarterbacks with protection, allowing nine pressures despite only playing on 80 passing downs. He's played to a putrid pass block grade of 2.5 — no, that isn't a typo — and that lackluster play has caused his playing time to drastically diminish, proven by his playing only eight or fewer offensive snaps in five of his last six outings.
Even though Sow is only 26, it's hard to feel confident about his outlook based on what we've seen. The Patriots must give Maye all the tools and protection he needs to succeed as a pro and that'll be difficult as long as Sow is playing at his current level.
Barring an unexpected turnaround, the 2024 season could be Sow's last in New England.
